Arduino: Beginner Microcontroller & Electronics Class

This is the perfect intro class for anyone wanting to experiment with interactive art, or to make electronic projects using the popular open source physical computing platform called Arduino (www.arduino.cc). You will learn to build your own development platform, connect a variety of sensors (light, touch, sound, etc.) and use them to control LEDs, sound and other devices.

No prior knowledge of electronics or programming is necessary, and all materials will be provided to you as a kit (including the DIY kit, programming cable, and a great selection of components for experimenting). You will need to bring a laptop since a host computer is needed to program the Arduino. Some computers are available in the classroom at NTR but it would be much better and more beneficial to you if you used your own computer. (Linux, Windows, or Mac is fine).

The class costs a total of $185: for the full 6 hours of instruction and workshop time. Class cost include your own microcontroller platform, programming cable, breadboard, and parts to keep. The class will take place at NTR (www.ntronline.org) in Center City Philadelphia on 10/03/2009 from 10:00AM to 4:00PM.
Enrollment is limited to 14, so reserve your spot today!

Arduino Input/Output with the Danger Shield

Arduino Danger Sheild by NYCResistor

The Arduino Prototyping board is one of the best pieces of electronics to come out for hobbyists in the last few years. To get the most out of this fantastic piece of electronics, it helps to have some great Input/Output (I/O) capability.

And it's as easy said as done if that I/O is coming from the Danger Shield! (by Zach Smith of NYC Resistor. It's dangerously fun, and you'll learn to do some dangerously cool things with the Arduino while you build and learn to use it!

This class will be split into 2 evening classes, held on Tuesday July 22nd (7 to 10PM), and Thursday July 24th (7 to 10PM).
